What do you do?
We sell used books, audio books and DVD’s. We also have a gift shop that sells soy candles, melts, bath bombs, literary bookmarks, key chains, necklaces, wish bracelets and tons more!
We offer community services and give away many books to community nursing homes, food pantries, and schools.
We stock existing Little Free Libraries as well as our very own Little Free Library at the Peoria Carver Center.
We are a drop off point for Operation Bundle Up – a local group that gives gently used and new winter coats and gear to local students.
We at Book Rack Used Books strive to be more than just a local bookstore. We want to be a vital, contributing part of the community. We want to make a difference -- and together, we can do that!
Where are you located?
We are located at 4408 N. Knoxville in Peoria, IL. We are in the Oak Cliff Park shopping center that boasts popular stores such as Two Sisters & a Warehouse, Replay Tots to Teens and Monical’s Pizza! We are caddy corner from Lou's Drive In. You could spend a whole day here shopping at this shopping center!
What are your hours?
Currently, we are open as the following:
Monday – 10 am to 5 pm
Tuesday – 10 am to 6 pm
Wednesday – 10 am to 5 pm
Thursday – 10 am to 6 pm
Friday – 10 am to 5 pm

Can I call you to see if you have a book in stock?
While we do not have an inventory system in place (to save you money on the price of books), we know where items would be and can check to see if we have it stock. Please call us!
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash and all major credit cards.
Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes, we do! Not amount too small or too big.
Do you buy or offer trade credit for books and media?
Yes, we do. We look at your gently used books and media and determine if we need any of them in the shop. We can offer you cash or trade credit. With our low prices and the discount, we tend to be cheaper than any other used bookstore in the area. Store credit is not valid towards the purchase of gift cards and can only be used on books. You can transfer your store credit to someone else.
What don’t you take?
We don’t take the following: Former library books or audio books, books with broken spines or pages falling out, books with water damage, or books with excessive writing or highlighting. For audio books and DVD’s, we don’t accept those without cases or if they are excessively scratched.
Do you only accept a certain number of books and media for cash or trade credit a day?
No. We will look at any number of books and media. If you have a large amount, you will be asked to leave them overnight, so we have the appropriate amount of time to look through them. We will call you when we are finished.
How much do you offer for trade or cash?
It depends on what the item is. Harder to find books may receive a higher offer in cash.
How much do the books in your shop cost?
We do not follow the same "half the price of the book when it was new" pricing model that many used bookstores follow. Most books in our shop are priced at between $2 and $4. Audio books are $3-$5. DVD’s are $2 - $4 and DVD series are $5 - $8 per season.

Where do most of your books come from?
We get our books and media from many different sources. We are determined to provide all our customers with the best selection we can.
How are the books in your shop arranged?
We try to arrange them by genre. We are continually working hard to keep all books where they should be and in alphabetical order by author’s last name.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes. We currently offer a 10% teacher discount with school ID as proof. We also offer a 10% military/veterans discount with ID.
What is your return policy?
Currently, we do not accept returns on books. Audio books and DVD’s can be returned within 3 days if they are not working properly.
